Project brief: To install a multi-room AV system with Rako lighting in a prestigious new property. Location: Hook in Hampshire. Client: Private individual.
Background A local business owner was in the process of building his 6-bedroom dream home. The requirement was to have multi-room audio and video in eight main zones and three sub-zones. Being very keen on music our client was also very interested to have local sources in his music room and two of the main bedrooms.
The client also required lighting control that would enhance the features of the property and provide security and ease-of-use for other family members.
The final requirement was a full network throughout the property to enable online streaming of music files.
The Solution: Through a process of elimination the customer decided on the Systemline modular multi-room solution, which relies solely on CAT5 cabling.
Colour touch-panels were installed in the five main rooms of the property, providing access to an audio server and Sky TV among other input sources. Keypads were installed in the remaining rooms, providing audio and video to a total of seven rooms.
The kitchen and adjoining sitting area work as a main and a sub-zone providing the opportunity to have quiet at either end of the room as required. The master bedroom has a sub-zone in the en-suite.
iPod docking stations provide local input sources in the client's music room and two of the main bedrooms.
Sixteen lighting circuits are controlled through four RAK4 Rako dimmers centralised with the AV equipment and other services. There are up to four scenes per room and all are controlled both through wall keypads and a Rako remote control.
A full user pack was provided for the new owners with upgrade path and useful information included.
